Koyasan 7 Saraswatee Shrines Tour

- People who want to explore unique spots in Koyasan
- Anyone interested in learning more about Koyasan
Visitors will see 7 Shrines where the energy of Saraswatee, the Goddess of wealth, music, eloquence, and water, is concentrated. The tour follows paths and back alleys that are only accessible by bike. It also includes chanting the mantra together, eating sesame tofu made with water drawn from Maruyama Benzaiten, one of the seven Saraswatee, and a short hike to reach Dake Benzaiten. After the tour, you are guaranteed to have a good grasp on the geography of Koyasan.

Initially, riders will arrive at Kii Kamiya and Hosokawa village, a hidden valley found in the Manga Nihon Mukashi Monogatari, a collection of Japanese folk tales. The Kii-Kamiya Station and Shirafuji Elementary school would be at home in a Studio Ghibli film. There are also spectacular scenic spots. We will take you beyond the usual tourist routes to unexplored areas of Koya mountain, which likely feel as they did a long time ago.
On the way back, you can leave your bicycle at Kii Hosokawa Station and return to Koyasan by train. Upon request, a visit to Hanasaka’s Yakimochi (baked rice cake) shop, which was featured in the manga “Oishinbo,” can also be arranged. We can touch the original landscape of Japan!
